This is so accurate! My co worker downloaded something on GitHub and she confessed that it was an attempt to pirate a software. The infostealer manage to steal her notes and her cookies trying to hijack her sessions which was disrupted shortly since it was suspended by our IT Dept thereafter. We watch in real time how the infostealer did it's work and leave without a trace. So everyone! It's not like those malware or trojans where your computer are infected through a backdoor. It requires you to sort of execute it for it to run and operate it's working command. The best way to avoid this is to not pirate softwares or games. Period.

Hi, another great video. But I once had a question of interest. Do you know of any other channels (or would you make a video) that shed more light on spyware and malware on cell phones (especially iPhones)? As this is a topic that is often neglected, I would be interested to know whether users really notice whether malware or spyware is installed?

iirc starting up with the system is supposed to be a countermeasure to an exploit to ensure that it starts before any cheating stuff in the same level. People who are already going that deep to cheat already obviously easily circumvented it, but I believe it requires extra hardware or something? Idk someone made a really good video about the Valorant cheating arms race one time.

I tried to download process explorer but the browser keeps force closing when I open the site and I downloaded it from 3rd party site but the install window force closes so how do I track the virus .

This happened to my channel (this account I'm writing this on) back in November 2022. Despite my better judgement and knowledge of using file name extensions and phishing scams, I got bit by it just out of sheer unintended negligence. My channel got turned into an "Ark Invest" channel with similar Elon Musk livestreams. RUclips terminates the channel as the live stream violates TOS policy on scams which is also a way of protecting your account and subscribers who may fall for the scams. What I received was not a sponsorship email, I do receive those, but they go straight to the junk folder since I am not interested in sponsorships on my channel. Instead, mine was a fake email claiming to be from Google with information about copyright issues, and in hindsight idk how I missed it, but the emails were linking to a Google Drive folder with a "PDF" file, but there were no obvious spelling mistakes or any other red flags that I noticed at the time. I guess I was either tired and wasn't paying attention, or something clicked in my head thinking that it was legit, but I have had issues with copyright on my channel in the past, so it wasn't abnormal for me to receive an email about a potential issue. It took a couple of days to get my channel back. For channels that are not as big as LMG who have direct contacts at RUclips, reaching out to TeamRUclips on Twitter worked for me and is what you should do. You have to be patient and give them as much info as you possibly can, and especially given there was an 18-hour time zone difference between RUclips and I, it took about two and a half days to recover my channel. It's always best to recover the channel using a device that you did not open the malware on once you've updated your credentials and Google have unlocked the account for you, I used an iPad to finally get back into my account until I was sure my PC was rid of the malware. TL;DR is that mistakes can happen to anybody regardless of their technical knowledge, and that you can never be too careful with emails, attachments and personal info.

If I was you I wouldn't even have the files on your system. It is rare but there have been cases out there where people take advantage of stuff like microsoft defender which automatically scans anything added onto ur pc to execute code.

Ok, but what real-world consequences have people ACTUALLY faced by having Vanguard installed on their computer, other than just being paranoid about it? Surely if it were that dangerous, people would be actively being impacted by such a scary piece of 'spyware' and Riot/Tencent would be in deep shit right now. No harm, no foul, right? Someone please convince me why this is so 'dangerous' if there haven't yet been any clear consequences.

Can someone elaborate a little further on 3:48 where the application is suspected to be a trojan? Is it because it established a connection while showing no UI? Just wanna make sure I understand it because if I were to install TCPView I think I would get confused about what would be considered suspicious behavior between other applications that were already running.

Used to pirate things, but not anymore. Not worth the headache with how sophisticated malware has become now. I'd rather just spend the money to buy an album on CD or Blueray/DVD and actually own my media without the threat of getting my data stolen. On top of that I don't have to worry about a streaming service removing my purchased media and can always make my own digital copies.

Open source apps for mostly alternative to proprietary software not crack them.
